Sondheim Tribute Revue at GCT

Something familiar! Something peculiar!

Galion Community Theatre is extremely pleased to bring ‘A Sondheim Tribute Revue’ to the stage with a wonderfully talented cast, many of whom are new to the Galion stage. In addition to the performance, audience members may choose to add on a delicious brunch provided by Bistro 217 to their afternoon's ticket.

In 2021, the theater world lost an absolute legend when composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim passed away at the age of 91. Mr. Sondheim, who began his career in the 1950’s and continued right up until his death, wrote 19 musicals, many of which are considered classics. Those he wrote music and/or lyrics for include, Gypsy, West Side Story, Company, Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods and many more. Over the course of his career, Mr. Sondheim was also honored with many major awards, including 8 Tony Awards for his work in the theater, an Academy Award for his song “Sooner or Later” from the movie “Dick Tracy, multiple Grammy Awards for his shows cast recordings and multiple Laurence Olivier awards, which are the British equivalent of the Tony’s.

This production pays tribute to a great composer and lyricist and will feature the talented voices of Sheldon Markel, Niko Carter, Benjamin Lowery, Mary Frankenfield, Katherine Clapp and Samantha Woodill with music and creative direction by Benjamin Lowery.
